Pet BereavementWhen we lose a much loved pet,we grieve and have the same feelings that we have when we lose a family member or close friend. Sometimes the depth of our emotions and grief can overwhelm us. People often say that they don't feel that they can talk about their grief at the loss of their pet to other family members or friends. This is where talking with a counsellor can be helpful. When people lose their pet, they often feel that they have to hide to the outside world the true extent of their feelings and grief. The fear around this often is,that they will not be taken seriously, or that others will expect them to be "over" the loss of their much loved pet. As a qualified bereavement counsellor I can offer you emotional support at this difficult and sad time. You will be able to talk freely about your pet and you will not be judged. During the counselling sessions I will help you to better understand the grieving process, this will help you come to terms with and start to eventually accept your loss. Pets give us unconditional love and acceptance, they can also provide us with comfort in times of illness, stress or loneliness. If you are still finding it hard to come to terms with your loss, please contact me to arrange a session of counselling or ask any questions about pet bereavement counselling. I am conveniently based at the Health Hydro, Milton Road, Swindon. |
